General Catalyst-backed Indian startup Pronto raises $25m

Pronto, a home services startup founded in April 2025 that connects households with trained professionals, has raised US$25 million in a funding round.

The round was led by Epiq Capital, with participation from Glade Brook Capital, General Catalyst, and Bain Capital Ventures.

The company now has a post-money valuation of US$100 million, according to founder and CEO Anjali Sardana.

Sardana said the funds will be used to hire and train professionals, deepen operations across existing markets, and expand into new service categories and cities over the next 12 to 18 months.

She said Pronto works with 3,000 professionals in 10 cities and clocked over 350,000 orders in February, up from 150,000 in December.

The startup redomiciled from Delaware to India last August and moved its headquarters from Gurugram to Bengaluru, Sardana added.

She also said the company burned around US$8 million in the past year in this competitive market.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Pronto’s valuation rests on fast growth and repeat bookings

  • Pronto reached a $100 million valuation, up eightfold from $12.5 million in May 2025 1.
  • Customer habits support that price. The median gap between a first and second booking is two days, while the top 10% of users place nine or more orders per month 2.
  • Sources put the $8 million burn as total cash burned to date, not spending over the past year 1. Pronto already has positive contribution margins (meaning it makes money on each order after direct costs, before overhead) in its oldest micromarkets (small, neighborhood-level service areas) in Gurugram. That supports a path to profit at scale 2.

Beyond on-demand cleaning, Pronto targets India’s informal labor market

  • Pronto operates in a category where online penetration stays below 1% of net transaction value (the total value of services sold through a platform, after deductions like cancellations and refunds) 1. Its approach of vetting, training, and structured shifts could help formalize parts of India’s informal economy beyond home services 3.
  • The workforce is 99% women, with predictable median monthly earnings of 23,000 625,000 and (per Pronto) worker support/benefits such as health insurance and safety features 14. That could raise expectations in a segment tied to unstable pay and exploitation 3.
  • Industry sources cited by Inc42 describe a high-volume, low-margin model, with average order values around 180 6200 (exclusive of discounts) 5. The test comes later, once venture capital-fueled discounts and incentives fade. Service quality and fair worker pay must hold 5.
