General Catalyst leads $6m in Indian digital-first FMCG firm

Meolaa, a digital-first FMCG company based in India, has raised US$6 million in a pre-series A funding round led by General Catalyst, with participation from Claypond Capital, Colossa Ventures, Kunal Shah, Turbostart Global, and existing investors.

The company plans to use the funds to develop AI infrastructure, launch new brands, and expand into personal care categories.

Founded in 2023 by Ishita Sawant, Meolaa currently operates fragrance brand HIRA.

The company said it reached 100 crore rupee (US$11.3 million) in annualized revenue within 18 months of launch, while HIRA crossed 1 crore rupee (US$112,641) in monthly revenue within three months.

Meolaa claims its AI-powered approach helps shorten product development timelines compared to traditional FMCG firms.
