General Catalyst joins $340m round for AI health startup Heidi
Heidi, an Australian startup that uses AI to automate clinical notes and other administrative work for doctors, has raised US$340 million as demand grows for healthcare productivity tools.
The total includes a US$100 million series C equity round led by existing investor Blackbird Ventures, valuing Heidi at US$900 million.
Another US$240 million will come from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, a debt-like financing structure that Heidi said will help fund sales and marketing during its expansion.
Heidi said its software has been used in more than 175 million patient visits. The company plans to expand in Asia, the Middle East, the US, the UK, and Australia.
General Catalyst has previously described a strategy of offering capital through structures beyond traditional growth equity.
The funding comes as rivals in AI medical scribing also raise money. Abridge secured US$300 million at a US$5.3 billion valuation, while Suki raised US$70 million in a series D round.
