General Catalyst backs Standard Bots at $1b valuation

Standard Bots, a New York-based robotics startup that makes robotic arms for industrial automation, said on June 9 it raised US$200 million at a US$1 billion valuation to expand production in the US.

General Catalyst and RoboStrategy, a robotics-focused fund, led the round.

Standard Bots previously raised US$63 million nearly two years ago. The company said the new capital would expand its manufacturing facility in Long Island, New York, and fund more engineering hires.

Standard Bots sells a 6-axis collaborative robot called Core, which starts at US$37,000. It also sells software built around one-task demonstrations and no-code setup for machine tending, assembly, and pick-and-place work.

The company said its robotic arms can learn a specific task after watching a demonstration, using AI systems running in the background. Standard Bots remains focused on industrial applications rather than home robotics.
