CaoCao’s 100 robotaxis fit into a larger ecosystem

• CaoCao Mobility tied the 100-vehicle rollout to a commercial plan. It announced a HKD383 million (about USD49.1 million) private placement, with 68% of proceeds set aside for the robotaxi business 1.
• The company is building more automation behind the scenes. With robotics firm DOBOT, it is exploring automated vehicle cleaning, maintenance, and charging, alongside automated battery swapping 2.
• CaoCao is folding robotaxis into a wider mobility platform. It acquired 100% of corporate travel firm StarRides and plans full ownership of Zhejiang Geely Business Travel Services Co., Ltd. (“Geely Travel”) to offer one service for individual and enterprise clients after the deals close 3.

• CaoCao says the 100-vehicle milestone in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District tests an integrated model. The package includes purpose-built vehicles, autonomous driving technology, and intelligent operations, backed by a decade of ride-hailing experience and data accumulation 4.
• In Abu Dhabi, an MoU (memorandum of understanding) sets out next steps. CaoCao and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office said they will explore feasibility studies and pilot projects, promote green mobility technologies including EVs (electric vehicles) and battery-swap models, and CaoCao plans a regional office in Abu Dhabi 5.
• Western rivals often split work across separate software and hardware partners. That structure could be a drawback if governments lean toward single-provider packages for smart city builds.
