French telecom firm to invest $3.1b in AI infrastructure
French telecom company Iliad has announced a €3 billion (US$3.1 billion) investment in AI infrastructure, focused on developing data centers and computing resources.
This investment will be managed by its subsidiary OpCore, which oversees Iliad’s 13 data centers.
Ahead of the upcoming AI Action Summit in Paris, Iliad revealed that OpCore plans to deploy several hundred megawatts of capacity initially.
The long-term goal is to expand to several gigawatts across European markets.
The company also confirmed a partnership with France-based Mistral AI to incorporate the “le Chat pro” AI model for its 15.5 million subscribers in France.
