🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ AI in buildings: A growing market addressing a major emissions source

Aedifion’s funding highlights the expansion of AI applications into building management, targeting a critical climate challenge.

Buildings account for approximately 40% of global energy consumption and carbon emissions, making them a prime target for technological innovation focused on efficiency 1.

The investment aligns with broader industry trends where AI systems optimize construction workflows, ensuring efficient material use while reducing carbon emissions in both new and existing buildings 2.

Companies like ABB have demonstrated that AI-powered energy management solutions can generate significant cost savings by enabling buildings to respond to energy pricing in real-time, as seen with their client Genan 3.

This funding round reflects growing recognition that building-focused AI solutions represent a substantial market opportunity at the intersection of property technology and climate tech.

2️⃣ The evolution from “smart” to “cognitive” buildings

Aedifion’s technology represents the next generation of building management systems that go beyond simple automation to incorporate intelligent decision-making.

Traditional building management systems struggle with real-time data integration, while modern AI-powered platforms enable a more comprehensive “system of systems” approach that can generate significant energy savings 4.
