French call-center firm uses AI to modify accents
France-based Teleperformance SE has implemented an AI system to modify the accents of English-speaking Indian call center agents in real time.
Developed by the Palo Alto-based startup Sanas, the technology enhances communication by softening accents and improving clarity, with additional features like background noise cancellation.
Teleperformance invested US$13 million in Sanas and became its exclusive reseller.
The service is currently available in India and supports Filipino accents, with plans to expand to other regions.
This move is part of Teleperformance’s broader strategy to invest €100 million (US$103.75 million) in AI partnerships in 2025.
The company aims to integrate AI with human employees to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
With 490,000 employees globally, Teleperformance reported €2.68 billion (US$2.78 billion) in Q4 2024 revenue, a 12% increase from the previous year, and expects 3-5% revenue growth in 2025.
