French AI-driven biotech firm bags $17.4m series A
One Biosciences, a biotech company based in Paris, has raised €15 million (US$17.4 million) in a series A funding round led by Redmile Group and Blast.
The round also included Galion.exe, Invus, Adamed Technology, Sofinnova Partners, Polytechnique Ventures, and Kima Ventures.
This brings the company’s total funding to over €20 million (US$23.3 million).
The new capital will support the development of its AI-driven OneMap™ platform.
The platform uses single-cell tumor transcriptomic profiling to enhance treatment decisions, patient selection, and therapy development. It also aims to support partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Founded in 2020, One Biosciences collaborates with top research institutions like the Curie Institute and Gustave Roussy Institute.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Single-cell sequencing enters clinical oncology after decade of laboratory evolution
One Biosciences’ funding highlights a significant technological shift as single-cell transcriptomics moves from research labs to clinical applications in cancer care.
This technology has evolved dramatically since its comprehensive introduction in 2009, advancing from analyzing individual cells to profiling tens of thousands simultaneously, reflecting rapid technological progress 1.
The approach addresses a fundamental challenge in precision oncology, tumor heterogeneity, by creating detailed functional profiles of individual tumors at the cellular level rather than treating cancer tissue as a homogeneous mass 2.
Single-cell sequencing has already delivered breakthrough insights in cancer research by revealing novel cell states and therapeutic targets that were previously undetectable with bulk sequencing methods 1.
One Biosciences’ clinical focus represents a critical transition for a technology that has primarily lived in research settings, with their two-week turnaround time for clinical samples potentially making complex biological information actionable for everyday treatment decisions 2.
2️⃣ AI integration transforms complex biological data into clinical decision support
The integration of artificial intelligence with advanced genomic technologies is creating a new paradigm for translating complex biological information into practical clinical insights.
