France will replace software supplied by Palantir to the Directorate-General for Internal Security (DGSI), the country’s domestic intelligence agency, with tools from French software company Chapsvision.

The move is part of Paris’ effort to reduce reliance on US technology providers and support domestic alternatives.

Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu also said the government will give civil servants an AI assistant from Mistral AI and spend an additional 655 million euros (US$759 million) on AI through 2030.

Palantir had supplied the DGSI for nearly a decade and, in December 2025, said it had renewed the contract for three years, covering its software platform, integration, support, and assistance services.

Chapsvision said its tools will be deployed across all French ministries.

Mistral said an April 2026 public-sector partnership would initially equip 10,000 civil servants, with a long-term goal of reaching all 5.7 million public servants.

Pressure on US vendors has also risen after Washington barred foreigners from accessing Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models on national security grounds.
