Foxconn unit launches Bria EV, eyes overseas markets

Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a Taiwan-based joint venture between Foxconn and Yulon Motor, has launched its Bria EV model with plans to target overseas markets.

The Bria will be sold in three versions, priced between US$28,600 and US$36,500.

Foxtron said Bria is the first EV made in Taiwan intended for global export.

The company also announced it will acquire Yulon Motor’s Luxgen passenger-car brand for T$787.6 million (US$25 million), including Luxgen’s five sales subsidiaries and related staff.

After the deal, Foxtron will manage Luxgen’s operations and expand its EV business, including the launch of the Model B under the Bria brand in Taiwan.

Foxconn holds a 45.6% stake in Foxtron, while Yulon owns 43.8%.

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Foxtron’s two-track plan strains ties between contract work and its Bria brand

  • Foxtron, a Taiwan joint venture of Foxconn and Yulon Motor, launched the Bria EV for export with plans for Australia and New Zealand under off-brand names to avoid clashing with clients 1. The move exposes friction between its contract design and manufacturing services (CDMS) for automakers and its self-branded push.
  •  Foxtron designed the Luxgen n7 that went from topping Tesla in Taiwan to 254 units in November 2025 2. The ~$25 million Luxgen deal would add five sales subsidiaries plus staff, though clients may share less if Foxtron sells at retail 1. Approval is pending with closing targeted for Q1 2026 1. After completion Foxtron will run Luxgen and expand EV plans, including the Model B under Bria in Taiwan.

Suppliers and chargers can tap Taiwan’s first export-focused EV network

  •  Component makers can ride Foxtron’s software-defined vehicle platform, which blends Taiwan electronics and AI, driving demand for localized Tier 2 firms that meet export-grade homologation 3.
  •  Charging operators can pitch partnerships now since the materials mention no charging alliances 3. The Bria’s up to 516 km NEDC range with a 57.7-kWh battery creates room to win preferred status in Taiwan or early export markets 3.
  •  Luxgen’s five sales subsidiaries and staff create openings for dealer systems, inventory financing, or after-sales software to sell Taiwan-specific tools as Foxtron builds retail after a Q1 2026 close 1.
