Foxconn sales up 15.8% on strong AI server, iPhone demand

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., known as Foxconn, reported a 15.8% increase in quarterly sales. The growth was driven by strong demand for AI servers and iPhones.

Revenue reached NT$1.8 trillion (US$62 billion) for the quarter ending in June.

The company expects continued growth in the third quarter, both sequentially and year-on-year.

As a major supplier for Apple and producer of Nvidia-powered AI servers, Foxconn is benefiting from increased spending by cloud service providers and heightened demand for iPhones.

Market research firm Counterpoint reported an 8% rise in Apple smartphone sales in China during the second quarter, driven by demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models.

Despite strong sales, Foxconn faces challenges from geopolitical shifts and trade tensions.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Manufacturing diversification becomes urgent amid escalating trade tensions

Hon Hai’s strategic pivot reflects the accelerating reshaping of global electronics manufacturing amid geopolitical pressures.

The company is actively exploring new manufacturing sites in the U.S. with partners, signaling a significant shift from its traditionally China-centered production model.

This comes at a critical moment, as Donald Trump has announced a 20% surtax on Vietnam-produced goods and 40% on items trans-shipped through Vietnam, directly impacting Hon Hai’s established operations there.

The company had already reduced its full-year revenue guidance in May specifically citing potential fallout from US-China trade tensions, demonstrating how geopolitical factors are forcing concrete business strategy adjustments.

This trend extends beyond Hon Hai, as the entire electronics manufacturing sector faces significant pressure to restructure global supply chains that were optimized for efficiency rather than geopolitical resilience.

2️⃣ Dual revenue streams buffer electronics manufacturers against market volatility

Hon Hai’s 15.8% quarterly growth demonstrates how diversification into both AI infrastructure and consumer electronics creates business resilience.
