Foxconn has paused the rotation of Chinese workers to its iPhone manufacturing plants in India, opting to deploy Taiwanese staff instead, amid reported delays in shipping specialized equipment from China to India.

The suspension could disrupt production at Foxconn’s factories in the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with some suggesting potential Chinese government influence, though no official confirmation has been made.

Chinese workers scheduled to move to India have been told to cancel trips, while those already there have reportedly been instructed to return to China.

To counteract disruptions, Foxconn is increasing Taiwanese staff and relying on semi-finished iPhone components from China to sustain Indian production.

Neither Apple, Foxconn, nor both governments involved have commented.
