Foxconn ramps up India iPhone plant to 30,000 workers

Foxconn has hired about 30,000 workers for its new iPhone assembly plant in Devanahalli near Bengaluru within eight to nine months, marking one of the fastest factory ramp-ups in India, according to sources.

The facility, covering 300 acres, employs around 80% women, most of whom are in their first jobs and aged 19 to 24.

The plant began test production in April or May and now makes iPhone 17 Pro Max models, with over 80% of output exported, sources said.

Foxconn is investing 20,000 crore rupee (about US$2.4 billion) in the project, which is expected to surpass its Tamil Nadu facility in scale.

The factory is part of Apple’s move to shift more iPhone production from China to India.
