Foxconn Q3 profit rises 17% driven by AI server demand

Foxconn’s Q3 net profit rose 17% year-on-year to NT$57.7 billion (US$1.8 billion), outpacing analyst expectations.

Revenue for the quarter reached NT$2.1 trillion (US$66.3 billion), matching forecasts.

Foxconn, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, is the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer and a major assembler of Apple’s iPhones.

The company has expanded into server manufacturing for AI applications and serves as a key partner for Nvidia.

Ivan Lam, a senior analyst at Counterpoint Research, cited robust demand for Foxconn’s server products as a main driver of growth.

Lam noted that component prices, currency changes, and logistics could affect future margins, but predicted a favorable outlook for Q4.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

AI server margins reveal potential strain despite revenue surge

  • Q3 net profit rose 17% year over year, but trailed the 27% operating profit growth in Q2 1. The gap hints at margin strain as AI server output ramps.
  • AI server revenue grew over 60% year over year in Q2, while gross margin slipped from 6.42% to 6.33% between Q2 2024 and Q2 2025 1. High unit prices with pass-through component costs diluted the margin percentage 1.
  • The company plans to spend up to $1.4 billion on AI data center gear in 2025–2026 2. Capex reached NT$79.8 billion in H1 2025, up 25% year over year 1. These costs could squeeze margins until vertical integration, bringing more production in-house, delivers gains.

Liquid cooling infrastructure suppliers face concentrated deployment windows

  • Foxconn expects AI server revenue to grow 170% year over year in Q3 2025, with rack shipments tripling quarter over quarter 1. Cooling needs will spike in select regions. Power distribution and optics makers, builders of fiber-optic transceivers, face the same surge.
  • Near-term targets include Jalisco, Mexico, with a $168 million investment 3, and Texas, which plans humanoid robots within months 4. Kaohsiung, Taiwan, hosts the K-1 data center with 800-volt direct-current (VDC) architecture 5.
  • Focus on modular data center (MDC) solutions, pre-fabricated one-stop modules for power, cooling, and IT racks 1. Foxconn formed a strategic alliance with TECO Electric & Machinery Co., a Taiwanese industrial equipment maker, for MDC one-stop solutions 1. That partnership signals use of this model to speed server rack installs.
