Foxconn Q1 profit jumps 19% on AI server demand
The company, a major assembler of Nvidia servers and Apple devices, had earlier reported a 30% rise in quarterly sales to about NT$2.1 trillion (US$66.6 billion).
The company said it still expects substantial sales growth this year, with AI demand as a key driver.
The US will gradually become Hon Hai’s largest AI server production hub because most of its cloud customers are based there, said rotating CEO Michael Chiang on its earnings call.
The company also warned about supply chain risks tied to the Middle East crisis and pressure from higher memory chip prices.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
AI server demand is changing Foxconn’s revenue base
- Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, has long been tied to iPhone assembly, yet AI server demand is pushing the company in a different direction 1.
- During the fourth quarter of 2025, cloud and networking products brought in more revenue than smartphones for the first time. That segment made up 42% of quarterly revenue 2.
- Calling Foxconn an assembler misses part of the picture. The company also works with Nvidia on an 800-volt direct current power architecture for AI data center facilities 3.
- That push includes a plan to make the U.S. its largest AI server hub, backed by a US$295 million injection into Foxconn Assembly LLC in Houston, Texas, to expand AI server production capacity 4.
AI sales growth can still squeeze margins
- Rising AI server sales are lifting revenue, though stronger sales do not always lead to matching profit growth for hardware manufacturers such as Foxconn 5.
- Margins can tighten because graphics processing units and memory chips cost a lot. Higher taxes on repatriated earnings also hurt a recent quarter 6.
- Income from AI servers is helping fund moves into nearby businesses with higher value, including modular data centers and industrial robotics 7.
- Foxconn is building its own tools as well, including an AI-powered industrial humanoid robot for factories and FoxBrain, its traditional Chinese large language model used in smart electric vehicle features 7.
