Foxconn Technology Group and IAT, a China-based automotive engineering company, on September 21 announced the establishment of Beijing Foxtecon Intelligent Robot Technology Co Ltd in Beijing.

The joint venture aims to help robot developers move from research and development (R&D) into mass production.

At the launch, Foxtecon signed cooperation agreements with Yingzhi Technology, Songyan Power, Shanghai Kepler, and RoboParty. It said it would provide a full-stack platform covering R&D, production, training, sales, and investment.

The move adds to Foxconn’s broader robotics effort. Foxconn is exploring deployment of humanoid robots in its Houston server factory.

The venture also adds to Beijing E-Town’s robotics cluster.

The company said the district includes more than 300 companies and innovation units, with an industrial chain worth more than 20 billion yuan (US$2.99 billion).

The district has also offered subsidies to robot buyers as part of its push to expand robotics adoption.
