Fortinet expands FortiEndpoint security with AI controls
Fortinet, a US-based cybersecurity company, said in Singapore on July 22 that it is adding AI governance, native data loss prevention (DLP), endpoint risk scoring, and FortiAI-assisted operations to FortiEndpoint.
The update expands a platform that already combines endpoint protection, zero-trust network access (ZTNA), virtual private network (VPN), and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
The new controls are designed to let security teams allow, restrict, monitor, or block sanctioned and unsanctioned AI tools through one agent, console, and license.
Fortinet said the enhancements would also inspect sensitive data shared with AI applications, agents, and web services, while adding natural-language investigation features.
They are expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026.
Demand for such controls has risen with shadow AI use.
PagerDuty said 66% of surveyed office professionals had used unauthorized AI tools at work, while more than 30% had put confidential company data into public AI models.
The move also reflects a broader industry shift. Forcepoint already markets tools to block shadow AI and prevent sensitive data from being pasted into generative AI apps.
