Foodpanda expands ride-hailing partnerships across Asia

Foodpanda has launched partnerships with ride-hailing firms Tada, Bolt, and Line Go to offer new benefits to its pandapro members across Asia.

Subscribers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan can now access exclusive ride discounts, and new users in select markets may receive up to six months of free pandapro membership.

The company said these tie-ups are part of a regional rollout, with more countries possibly added.

Foodpanda, a subsidiary of Germany’s Delivery Hero, operates in 10 Asia-Pacific markets.

It added that the collaborations could increase visibility and growth opportunities for merchants, though it did not disclose financial details or timelines for further expansion.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Ride-hailing partner reach determines if pandapro discounts are meaningful or marginal

  • Value of Foodpanda’s ride deals depends on each partner app’s footprint plus driver supply in Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Asia-Pacific makes up about 45% of global ride-hailing revenue 1, so reach matters for pandapro (Foodpanda’s paid membership program) uptake. Coverage varies for Tada, Bolt, and Line Go in each market.
  • Taiwan’s Line Go tie-up lands in a market worth about USD 178.9 billion in 2024 1. The pull will hinge on how it stacks up against entrenched local choices.
  • Foodpanda has not shared partner ride volumes or user bases. Many subscribers may skip the perk if they stick with apps that have stronger driver availability and wider coverage.

Telcos and banks in Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan can leverage cross-app bundling momentum

  • Singapore telcos already bundle cross-border data with mobile plans. Singtel (the country’s largest telecom operator) offers Core plans with roaming across 18 Asian destinations 2. M1 (a Singapore mobile network operator) offers a Maxx plan with 290GB usable in Singapore and Malaysia for S$7.90/month 3. Food and ride perks help keep customers.
  • Cross-border travel at Woodlands Checkpoint rose 22% year over year 3. The Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link opens by end-2026 3. Malaysian telcos and consumer banks can target super commuters with pandapro-style bundles.
  • In Taiwan, consumer banks and corporate employee benefits platforms can pair ride and food deals to stand out. That lines up with rider preferences for convenience and strong app experience 4.
