Food waste AI firm Winnow acquired SG’s Lumitics
Winnow, a London-based AI food waste measurement company, said on July 16 that it had acquired Singapore-founded Lumitics to expand in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Winnow said its platform is used in almost 100 countries and helps kitchens save more than US$100 million a year on food costs.
The company added that Lumitics customers will keep access to their existing data during a phased transition to Winnow’s platform and hardware in the coming months.
Founded in 2017, Lumitics operates in more than 20 countries across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, with customers including Accor, Hyatt, Marriott, and Four Seasons.
The Singapore startup has also used computer vision and machine learning tools to track food waste.
Winnow raised US$10 million in series C funding in 2023.
Singapore has also mandated segregation for large commercial and industrial food waste generators, a rule that could support adoption of food waste tracking tools.
