Flipkart’s quick commerce arm adds gourmet to attract buyers
Flipkart Minutes, the quick commerce arm of Walmart-backed Flipkart, has added gourmet products to its lineup in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.
The new gourmet section features 650 items from 130 brands, including international names like Samyang, Nongshim, Barilla, and Abbie’s, as well as Indian brands such as Habanero and WickedGud.
Flipkart Minutes said it plans to expand these offerings to more cities.
The move comes as quick commerce platforms in India face increased competition and seek ways to differentiate, with rivals such as Amazon expanding its Now service beyond Bangalore to parts of Delhi.
Other new entrants in the segment include FirstClub, which focuses on premium products and promises 20–30-minute delivery, and LoveLocal, a Mumbai-based app that connects users to local grocery stores and emphasizes quality and freshness over speed.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Gourmet grocery represents India’s fastest-growing e-commerce segment
Flipkart Minutes’ expansion into gourmet products positions it in one of India’s most promising market segments.
The grocery and gourmet foods market is projected to surge from $4 billion in 2022 to $25 billion by 2027, representing a remarkable 41% compound annual growth rate1. This growth trajectory significantly outpaces India’s overall e-retail market, which is growing at 10-12% annually2.
The broader online grocery market supports this trend, with projections showing growth from $4.3 billion in 2023 to $39.15 billion by 20323.
Quick commerce platforms are particularly well-positioned to capture this growth, with industry forecasts indicating they could command 70% of the online grocery market by 20304.
This data explains why established players like Amazon and emerging platforms like FirstClub are actively entering the space, as the market opportunity represents one of the largest untapped segments in Indian e-commerce.
2️⃣ Tier-2 cities drive premiumization beyond traditional metros
The interest from tier-2 consumers in Flipkart’s gourmet offerings reflects a broader demographic shift reshaping India’s e-commerce landscape.
New shoppers from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are expanding India’s consumer base, contributing significantly to the country’s $60 billion e-retail market2.
