Flipkart Minutes expands to 1,200 fulfillment centers in India
Flipkart Minutes, the quick-commerce arm of Flipkart, said on September 11 that it had expanded to nearly 1,200 micro fulfilment centers across more than 150 cities.
The company said the business grew 4x year on year and that around 60% of customers returned to shop there.
It also said its customer base in tier 2 and smaller markets rose nearly 25x year on year, with Ambala, Siliguri, and Tiruppur among the fastest-growing cities.
Flipkart said its Generation Z customer base grew nearly 5x year on year and accounted for more than 45% of orders in categories.
The expansion comes as India’s quick-commerce market gets more crowded. Blinkit currently leads in dark-store scale, while Zepto is ahead of Instamart.
As a Walmart-owned platform, Flipkart is also growing in a market where foreign-owned ecommerce companies are generally restricted from directly holding inventory at scale under India’s foreign direct investment rules.
