Firm behind Genshin Impact registers new AI model

The gaming industry is increasingly integrating artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC), exemplified by miHoYo’s recent registration of the Glossa AI model. miHoYo, recognized for its popular game Genshin Impact, has established a dedicated internal AI team called “Inverse Entropy” to enhance its AI technology initiatives.

This strategic commitment is further demonstrated by miHoYo’s investments in domestic AI firms. While miHoYo has yet to disclose specific functionalities of the Glossa model or announce its launch, this registration signifies a crucial milestone in the company’s AI strategy.

The term “Glossa,” derived from Greek, means “language,” suggesting its potential application in creating intelligent non-player characters (NPCs) for upcoming game titles. miHoYo has previously demonstrated its ambition to enhance content production efficiency through AI.

For instance, in the game “Undecided Case Book,” the company utilized its Inverse Entropy AI to generate voice recordings after replacing a voice actor. Moreover, the character “March 7th” from “Honkai: Star Rail” features AI-generated dialogue designed to minimize repetition.

However, the use of AI in prominent player-facing roles, like voice acting, remains a contentious issue within the gaming community. Glossa’s potential utility may extend beyond content creation to include user data analysis and software development, both essential components of the gaming industry’s operational framework.

In parallel, other companies in the gaming sector, such as TapTap, are advancing their AI initiatives. TapTap has recently registered an AI product named “Tap Sight,” which leverages existing knowledge bases to assist users in accessing game-related information.

This product functions similarly to various AI search tools currently available on multiple platforms. The collective push towards AI adoption in the gaming sector, highlighted by miHoYo’s Glossa model and initiatives from companies like TapTap, signals a positive trend toward enhancing both game development and operational efficiency within the industry.
