US fintech firm Ramp seeks OCC trust bank charter

Ramp, a US fintech company that offers corporate cards and spend-management software, said on October 19 that it had applied to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a trust bank charter to establish Ramp National Trust Bank.

If approved, the charter would let the proposed trust bank provide fiduciary investment management and custody for digital assets. Ramp said the trust bank would not take deposits or make commercial loans.

The application adds to a broader push by startups into regulated banking structures. Revolut said on its website that it received conditional approval on September 3, 2026, to form a US national bank.

Ramp was valued at US$60 billion in a new funding round and had annualized revenue of US$2 billion.
