Verda, a Finland-based cloud infrastructure startup for AI workloads, has raised US$189 million in a round led by Emergence Capital, valuing the company at at least US$1 billion.

Other investors included MUFG Innovation Partners, Super Micro Computer, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance, and Lifeline Ventures.

Chief executive Ruben Bryon said Verda will use the funds to expand computing capacity.

Bryon said Verda reached an annualized revenue run rate of US$165 million in July. He said the company aims to raise up to US$1.5 billion in equity and debt this year.

Super Micro has separately partnered with Verda on full-stack AI cloud infrastructure.

Verda said it operates two data centers. The company has also announced an AI data center in Sundsvall, Sweden.

The expansion comes as Europe’s data center sector faces constraints around power, grid connections, and permitting.
