Finmo, Standard Chartered to launch global currency accounts

Finmo has partnered with Standard Chartered to launch a global currency account (GCA) service for businesses, announced at the Singapore FinTech Festival 2025.

Finmo, a global fintech company, will enable its customers to open and manage multi-currency accounts in Singapore, with plans to expand to the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and the UK.

The collaboration will allow businesses to automate cross-border payments, conduct foreign exchange transactions, and gain real-time account visibility through Finmo’s platform, using Standard Chartered’s banking infrastructure, with the real-time feature available soon.

Finmo will integrate Standard Chartered’s APIs, making it one of the few treasury platforms with direct access to multi-market currency accounts and institutional-grade infrastructure.

Both companies said the partnership aims to streamline global money movement and improve transparency for finance teams managing international operations.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Accounts via Standard Chartered; Finmo provides the API link

  • Finmo says its global currency account (GCA) lets businesses create accounts in their company name 1.
  • This setup turns Finmo into the integration and API layer that links businesses to Standard Chartered’s banking system 2. Finmo is licensed as a Major Payment Institution in Singapore (a regulatory category overseen by the Monetary Authority of Singapore that allows large payment firms to provide payment services) 2.
  • The partnership uses Finmo’s payments system to offer Standard Chartered-powered multi-currency accounts 2. Finmo says it holds licenses in Singapore and five other markets 2.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and accounting integrators can capture demand for automated reconciliation

  • Finmo’s platform focuses on automated reconciliation (matching payments to invoices without manual input) and real-time cash visibility 1. That drives demand for connectors between its GCA and ERP suites like NetSuite or SAP. It also raises demand for links to Xero or QuickBooks. The same goes for Shopify.
  • Companies that manage more than 30 currencies across multiple GCA accounts need automatic data flows 1. Finmo often targets businesses without dedicated treasury teams (specialized corporate finance staff who manage cash and liquidity) 3.
  • Integration partners can win this work early. That includes systems integrators or middleware vendors. They need Finmo’s APIs to support webhooks (automated event callbacks that push updates to external systems) and standardized transaction exports (machine-readable formats for downstream systems) 4. Offer pre-built templates for common reconciliation rules to move faster than rivals.
