Figma lets design files connect with AI tools

Figma has updated its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to let AI agents and coding tools access design files remotely.

Developers can now use AI models to interact with the code behind prototypes and designs in Figma Make, the platform’s prompt-to-app coding tool.

The MCP server now works with Anthropic, Cursor, Windsurf, and VS Code, and can be accessed by browser-based AI models and IDEs, removing the need for local desktop app access.

Figma said future updates will allow third-party MCP servers to connect with Figma Make.

The company will also launch a Design Snapshot feature this week, enabling Make snapshots to be converted into editable layers in Figma Design.

It is also testing an AI-powered editing tool within the design canvas.
