Ferrari launches Luce as first fully electric car

Ferrari unveiled the Luce in Rome on May 25, its first fully electric car, a four-door, five-seater priced at 550,000 euros (US$640,000) with deliveries due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Ferrari said the Luce offers more than 500 km of range, four electric motors, more than 1,000 horsepower, and a top speed above 310 kph. Chief executive Benedetto Vigna said the model was the result of five years of work.

The launch continues Ferrari’s gradual electrification strategy rather than marking a sudden pivot. The carmaker’s first hybrid arrived in 2013, and Ferrari has said that by 2026 about 60% of its lineup will be hybrid or fully electric.

While the Luce is Ferrari’s first five-seater, it follows the company’s long four-seat history, from the 1960 250 GT/E to later models such as the FF and GTC4Lusso.

The debut also comes as Porsche has slowed its EV rollout, delaying some launches and extending combustion and plug-in hybrid models.

Ferrari has also said the Luce could help it expand in China, where large petrol cars face heavy taxes and European imports could face additional tariffs.
