Al Jazeera’s investigation revealed that Facebook displayed over 100 ads promoting illegal settlements and far-right activities in the West Bank.

These ads included calls for demolishing Palestinian homes and fundraising for Israeli military units in Gaza.

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, said the ads were reviewed before being published, but did not clarify whether promoting illegal settlements violated its advertising standards.

The investigation found 52 ads from Israeli real estate companies selling properties in settlements in the West Bank, targeting buyers in Israel, the UK, and the US.

Meta’s ad review system, using both automated technology and human oversight, may have failed to catch the illegal content.
