The US Commerce Department has added Chinese firm Sophgo, along with 13 other China-based entities and two Singapore-based companies, to its restricted trade list.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, aims to limit China’s access to advanced semiconductor technologies.

Sophgo was blacklisted after a chip from Huawei’s Ascend 910B AI processor matched one it had ordered from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).

This action is part of ongoing US efforts against Chinese firms linked to Huawei.

Sophgo denied any business relationship with Huawei.
