Ex-OpenAI engineer launches robotics startup

Roger Jiang, a former engineer at OpenAI, has launched a robotics startup named Light Robotics, with offices in Singapore and Shenzhen.

The company aims to create consumer-focused companion robots.

Jiang left OpenAI in June 2023, where he contributed to the development of GPT-4, focusing on reinforcement learning from human feedback and data investigations.

Light Robotics was officially registered in Singapore in August of this year.

A separate entity, Liangyuan Xinchuang Technology Limited, was established in Shanghai during the same month, according to the Chinese corporate site Qichacha.

The startup is reportedly hiring talent in Singapore and has employed at least one engineer in Shanghai, according to Light Robotics’ LinkedIn page.
