Pat Gelsinger, former CEO of Intel and current chairman of the tech platform Gloo, praised DeepSeek’s model, calling it a game-changer for the AI space.

Gelsinger said Gloo decided to use R1 instead of OpenAI for its AI service, Kallm, which is being built with an open-source foundational model.

Gelsinger believes DeepSeek’s lower-cost and high-performance AI will make it more accessible.

Despite some skepticism about DeepSeek’s numbers, Gelsinger remains confident that the model is far more cost-effective than OpenAI’s offerings, citing DeepSeek’s engineering creativity over sheer hardware power.
