Ex-FTX exec begins prison sentence after LinkedIn update

Ryan Salame, a former FTX executive closely associated with Sam Bankman-Fried, began serving his 7.5-year prison sentence on Wednesday.

Two days earlier, Salame announced on LinkedIn that he was “starting a new position as Inmate at FCI Cumberland,” highlighting his fall from grace in the crypto sector.

In May, a federal judge sentenced the 31-year-old for his role in a scheme to defraud FTX investors and customers.

This sentence also included making hundreds of unlawful political campaign donations before FTX’s bankruptcy in late 2022.

He was among four top FTX executives who pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with federal investigators.

Prosecutors alleged that Salame conspired with Bankman-Fried, who received a 25-year prison sentence in March for his role in the downfall of the exchange.
