Ex-Apple chip engineer returns to China, takes role at university
Kong Long, a former Apple engineer specializing in wireless semiconductors, has joined Fudan University in Shanghai as a researcher and doctoral adviser at the School of Microelectronics.
He spent over seven years at Apple and will focus on research in radio frequency integrated circuits, digital-analog hybrid computing chips, and high-speed data interfaces.
Kong earned a PhD in electrical engineering from UCLA in 2016.
Prior to Apple, he worked at Oracle as a hardware engineer.
His move reflects the trend of Chinese-born engineers returning to China as the country strengthens its semiconductor industry amidst US export controls.
