Ex-Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger invests in AI startup
Pat Gelsinger, the former CEO of Intel, has become an angel investor in Fractile.ai, a British AI chip startup.
Fractile.ai is developing low-cost AI inferencing technology, an area where Intel faces competition from Nvidia.
The company recently raised US$15 million in seed funding from investors, including the NATO Innovation Fund and British innovation authorities.
Gelsinger expressed support for the investment on his X account, praising Fractile.ai’s work on in-memory computing and semiconductor design. He also highlighted its potential for cost and energy efficiencies in scaling AI applications.
Gelsinger resigned as Intel’s CEO in late 2024 after struggling to revitalize the company, with delays in factory projects and major workforce reductions.
