Ex-Grab exec’s Tashi Network raises funding to expand its network

Tashi Network, which develops distributed consensus technology for machine coordination, has raised new funding in an oversubscribed round co-led by Blockchain Founders Fund and Exponential Science Capital.

Other investors in the round include Taisu Ventures, MN Capital, and industry figures such as Gabby Dizon of Yield Guild Games and Wei Zhou, CEO of Coins.ph.

The company plans to use the capital to expand its network and launch a token on the Solana blockchain.

Based in Singapore and California, Tashi aims to replace centralized systems with a framework enabling real-time, serverless coordination of robots and AI agents.

CEO Amar Bedi, a former executive at Grab, Uber, and KPMG, said the company’s technology allows global-scale coordination without central servers.

Tashi said its system currently supports over 50,000 community-run nodes, and has more than 100 ecosystem partners.

The company targets industries that require instant, local coordination for autonomous systems.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Performance claims need outside checks beyond internal tests

  • Tashi says its consensus engine (the protocol nodes use to agree on state) runs under 30ms 1 and measured 26 to 103ms across peer counts 2. The posted numbers come from controlled tests on a specific Microsoft Azure setup 2.
  • The company cites throughput up to 1.026 million transactions per second (TPS) 2. That would be 2 to 3 orders of magnitude over mainstream public blockchains 2, yet no third-party checks or production results are available.
  • For robotics, Tashi markets sub-100ms synchronization 3. In competitive gaming, many treat latency over 50ms as unacceptable 2. Teams should ask for independent benchmarks, case studies, and comparisons against Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) or traditional game servers before committing.

Middleware teams can win early users by building bridges to other ecosystems

  • Tashi’s current software development kits (SDKs) focus on Unity 4 and ship with FoxMQ, a decentralized Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) broker 1. The docs do not list connectors for Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2) or popular AI agent platforms.
  • Developer tooling firms and systems integrators can build connectors, sims, and frameworks that link Tashi’s consensus layer to other ecosystems. Cross-chain bridges (tools that move assets or messages between blockchains) captured similar value in blockchain infrastructure.
  • Tashi targets 2.5 million resource nodes by 2029 5 and says it has 50,000+ bonded nodes (participants that meet the network’s bonding requirements) today 3. Early builders can set the pace as the network grows by tackling debugging of distributed consensus and local multi-agent tests.
