Former Binance CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao has been appointed as a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council, according to local media reports.

The council, formed in March 2025, aims to oversee blockchain and crypto initiatives in Pakistan.

Zhao will advise on crypto infrastructure, education, and adoption.

On April 3, he said on X that he provides guidance to governments on crypto regulations and blockchain solutions, while avoiding political involvement.

The Pakistan Crypto Council is part of a broader push to grow the country’s blockchain industry and attract international investment. CEO Bilal Bin Saqib said Pakistan is aiming for regulatory clarity and institutional adoption.

Zhao’s appointment comes after his departure from Binance, following a guilty plea in 2023 for violating the Bank Secrecy Act.
