Ex-Alibaba executive’s chip startup raises pre-A funding

Shenzhen-based chip startup Shenzhen Zhichuangxin Microelectronics has completed a pre-A round with participation from TusStar Venture Capital and several investors.

Zhichuangxin plans to work with Shenzhen Kaihong to combine RISC-V with OpenHarmony in smart terminals. The partnership will first target smart home products.

Founded in 2022 by former Alibaba T-Head executive Chen Hao, Zhichuangxin develops RISC-V processors and system-on-chip (SoC) chips.

The company said it had launched multiple chips with built-in RISC-V central processing units (CPUs), completed mass production.

It also said shipments have reached several million units a year.

SHD Group forecast cumulative global RISC-V SoC shipments will reach 161.81 billion units by 2030, with the market worth US$92.7 billion.
