The European Union has taken action against Google and Apple for alleged violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Google is accused of “self-preferencing” by favoring its own services in search results and restricting app developers on Google Play from directing users to alternative platforms.

Apple was directed to improve interoperability in iOS, allowing third-party developers to create products that function smoothly on its systems.

While Google has not responded, Apple argued that these requirements could hinder innovation and plans to continue discussions with the EU.

The DMA targets competition issues from major tech firms like Google, Apple, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft. These actions come amid US-EU tensions over tech regulations.
