The European Commission is preparing to launch an antitrust investigation into Meta’s use of AI features within WhatsApp, the Financial Times reported.

Meta, based in the US, owns WhatsApp and has recently introduced new AI capabilities to the messaging app.

According to the report, citing two officials, the probe will examine how Meta integrated its Meta AI system into WhatsApp.

The commission may announce the investigation in the coming days, though the timeline could change.
