The European Union is maintaining its strict oversight of Big Tech under the Digital Services Act (DSA), despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Henna Virkkunen, the European Commission’s executive vice president for tech sovereignty, dismissed claims of easing scrutiny, affirming that investigations into platforms like X, Meta, TikTok, and others remain active.

Virkkunen emphasized that all companies, regardless of origin, must comply with EU regulations aimed at curbing harmful online content and disinformation.

Regarding X, the EU is investigating compliance with transparency and content moderation under the DSA, especially amid Elon Musk’s controversial engagements.
