The European Union has begun imposing tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China.

This decision follows unsuccessful trade negotiations with Beijing and highlights tensions over Chinese government subsidies and increasing green technology exports to the EU.

The European Commission reports a sharp rise in Chinese electric vehicle market share in the EU.

This share increased from 3.9% in 2020 to 25% by September 2023.
