Epson launches AX6 cobot in Southeast Asia
Epson said on August 31 that it launched the AX6 collaborative robot in Southeast Asia this month.
The Japan-based technology and robotics company is initially selling its first cobot in Singapore, with availability and configurations in other markets varying.
The company said the 17 kg robot is designed for cleanroom environments in pharmaceutical, logistics, automotive, and electronics manufacturing. It has a compact carbon-body arm manipulator for use in tight spaces.
Epson said the AX6 supports alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) power and is compatible with autonomous mobile robot and automated guided vehicle applications.
The company said operators can train the robot through hand-guided teaching and use block programming, while developers can use Python and the Robot Operating System (ROS) for more advanced functions.
Epson said the AX6 has an ISO Class 5 cleanroom classification, IP54 dust and splash protection, and safety functions including power and force limiting, safe operating stop, safe limited speed, and safe limited position.
