Environment Ministry joins Korean gov’t in blocking DeepSeek
The Korean Ministry of Environment has blocked access to the DeepSeek, citing user data collection concerns. This action took effect on Feb. 6 for PCs within the ministry.
Other generative AI platforms, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, remain accessible.
A ministry official said that intelligence authorities are cautios about DeepSeek due to unclear personal information handling processes.
Earlier this week, the interior ministry advised central government ministries and 17 local governments to be cautious with generative AI tools like DeepSeek.
The foreign, trade, defense, and finance ministries have also restricted access to the platform based on these recommendations.
