Enterprises favor private cloud for AI, Broadcom says
Broadcom said on June 10 that 56% of enterprises globally were running or planning to run production AI inference on private cloud.
By comparison, 41% said they would do so on public cloud.
In Asia-Pacific and Japan, Broadcom said 82% of organizations were considering moving workloads from public cloud to private cloud.
Broadcom said 54% had already repatriated some workloads.
The study was conducted by Radius Tech in partnership with Broadcom.
The study ran in February and March 2026. It covered 1,800 senior IT decision-makers at organizations with at least 1,000 employees across eight countries in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
The company said security and compliance, cost predictability, and performance were the top reasons for moving workloads back to private cloud.
Globally, 83% of enterprises were considering such moves. Half had already repatriated at least some workloads.
IDC data showed only 8% to 9% of organizations intended full workload repatriation.
The figures suggest many companies were shifting only selected workloads rather than fully pulling back from public cloud.
