Ele.me, a Shanghai-based food delivery platform owned by Alibaba Group, has denied reports that it is in talks with ByteDance over a purchase deal. The rumors, which were first published in Chinese publication Caijing and pegged the offer at US$7 billion, have been described as “false.” The reports suggested that ByteDance was eyeing Ele.me’s immediate delivery business.
