Electronic Arts reportedly nears $50b go-private deal
Electronic Arts is reportedly nearing a deal to go private in a transaction valued at US$50 billion.
The potential buyout is being discussed with Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and Affinity Partners, which is backed by PIF.
EA has been publicly listed since 1990, and PIF already owns nearly 10% of the company.
PIF has also invested in Take-Two Interactive, Activision Blizzard, Nintendo, and Embracer Group, while Silver Lake owns a stake in Unity.
Bloomberg and the Financial Times reported the buyout could be announced as early as next week, though no final agreement has been reached.
If completed, the deal would be the largest leveraged buyout in history.
