Egyptian fintech company Octane nets $5.2m
Egypt-based fintech company Octane has raised US$5.2 million in a funding round led by Shorooq Partners, Algebra Ventures, and Elsewedy Capital Holding.
Founded in 2022, Octane offers a digital platform that helps manage fleet and on-road expenses by integrating payments for fuel, maintenance, spare parts, and other costs into one system.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its network, enhance its technology, and grow operations across Egypt and the MENA region.
Octane currently supports payments for diesel, gasoline, and CNG, and is piloting EV charging payments.
Its network spans 2,400 petrol stations and 400 CNG outlets in Egypt, serving over 1,600 corporate clients managing around 250,000 vehicles.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Fleet management becoming a high-growth fintech vertical globally
Octane’s funding comes amid explosive growth in the fleet management software market, which is projected to more than double from $24.04 billion in 2024 to $53.16 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 17.1% 1.
This rapid expansion is driven by increasing demands for operational efficiency, real-time tracking, and regulatory compliance, particularly as companies seek better control over volatile fuel costs and logistics expenses 2.
The timing of Octane’s expansion is strategic, as specialized payment solutions for fleets represent a significant segment within this market, with companies increasingly seeking integrated platforms that combine payments with analytics 3.
The focus on both traditional fuels and emerging energy sources (CNG and EV charging) positions Octane at the intersection of current fleet needs and future transportation trends, as the global shift toward electrification accelerates 4.
Unlike consumer-focused mobility solutions that dominated earlier waves of innovation, enterprise-focused fleet management platforms address the substantial inefficiencies in B2B transactions that directly impact business profitability.
2️⃣ MENA represents an underserved market for specialized fleet technologies
While North America currently leads the fleet management market, emerging regions like MENA present significant growth opportunities due to their expanding transportation sectors and relative lack of specialized solutions 3.
Egypt represents a strategic entry point for regional expansion, with its position as the Arab world’s most populous country and its growing logistics sector that connects Africa, Europe, and Asia through vital shipping routes.
