East Ventures predicts 50% of firms to adopt AI by 2027
Indonesian venture capital firm East Ventures predicts that 50% of businesses will adopt AI, particularly AI Agents, by 2027.
Currently, an estimated 25% of businesses are using AI, mainly in consumer-facing engagement and internal tooling solutions, according to Avina Sugiarto, Partner at East Ventures.
East Ventures highlighted that its portfolio companies are using AI across sectors such as logistics, healthcare, education, and customer support.
For internal operations, AI is applied in training, analytics, operations, and content creation.
Despite the growing interest, Sugiarto noted that AI funding in Southeast Asia is still low.
In 2024, global AI venture capital investments hit US$137 billion, while Southeast Asia secured only US$1.1 billion.
East Ventures remains optimistic and aims to support AI innovation through initiatives and partnerships to address challenges like talent shortages.
