Earth VC joins quantum AI startup’s $139m seed, series A
Earth Venture Capital – a Vietnam-based climate tech VC firm – said it backed quantum AI startup Sygaldry Technologies in both its US$34 million seed round and US$105 million series A, bringing the startup’s total funding to US$139 million.
Sygaldry – with offices in Ann Arbor and San Francisco in the United States – is building servers that integrate quantum components with existing GPU infrastructure for AI training and inference.
Earth VC said it was the only Asia-based investor in the financing alongside Y Combinator and Initialized Capital.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Sygaldry’s strategy targets AI’s energy problem with a hybrid hardware design
- Sygaldry was co-founded by Chad Rigetti, who founded Rigetti Computing and took it public in an initial public offering (IPO) 1.
- The company says its hybrid architecture mixes multiple types of qubits, the basic units of quantum computing, inside a fault-tolerant system that aims to stay accurate when parts fail 1.
- The design borrows from classical computers where processor logic, memory, and storage rely on different technologies that work together 2.
- Sygaldry is building hardware tuned for AI workloads such as training and inference, rather than a general-purpose quantum machine 1.
AI’s immense power demand is redefining climate tech investing
- The investment treats AI electricity use as a constraint that can steer deep-tech funding 3.
- In Malaysia, AI power demand is projected to rise 700% by 2030 and could reach 30% of national electricity use 3.
- Earth Venture Capital has called for more clean, firm power supply, reliable low-carbon electricity that can run continuously, plus efficiency gains in computing infrastructure, including small modular reactors, which are compact nuclear reactors 3.
- This view ties energy infrastructure to computing efficiency as linked markets 3.
